Default P1059 ABS head scratcher. Any help appreciated.

Hi all,

I have a problem here which is driving me crazy. My Disco II V8 is throwing up pending code P1059. Now, I have a very fancy computer which is able to read and reset the ABS module. Its telling me that its an ABS related code.

I recently replaced an ABS sensor on the front right wheel which my computer was telling was the issue and it has cleared the 3 amigo's from my dash. and on a side note it also cleared the red handbrake light which had been pestering me for ages as i know that the hand brake switch and brake fluid monitor were both working.

Anyway. I accessed the ABS module and every single system and component is now working A-OK.

so why the pending code? Has anyone else experienced this? or could tell me what needs to be done? Will it disappear after a time? after all it is "pending"? Or is it even ABS/TC/HDC related???

Any help would be appreciated.

That's a rough road fault. Should be able to clear it once all the ABS Sensors are replaced and it should stay off. If it's coming back you may have other ABS Faults pending.

Rough Road is the generic OBDII reading for P1590 but it means there is an ABS code stored.

I cleared my P1059 by fixing 2 knocked wire between the rear door and the frame. The boot wasn't protecting them and I saw some bare copper showing. I also noticed that my rear wiper washer line is cracked in that same place, but that's for some other time.

Edit: Check for pending codes in other modules, I had one for HDC - Short/fault in module wiring for brake light circuit. That caused no lights, but but gave me 2 fault codes, 1 pending plus the P1059

Great idea. I will check all the other modules tomorrow. With the code just "pending" could it be that by some stroke of luck it will disappear if the fault has been fixed? I'm thinking it very likely that it was linked to the front right wheel sensor which I replaced. Or possibly something to do with the mystery handbrake light???

Yeah if it was pending and wasn't cleared. I'd clear it and see if it comes back. If it does you need to check for ABS faults.
