Default Parking Brake... removal?

I've looked at X-Brake (disc transmission brake to replace the drum) and the local Rover wrecker is making his own Disc replacement as well. What I'm wondering is if I am going to upgrade my calipers all around then I could install some mechanical parking brakes on each disc. Anyone heard of something like this being done? It would cut a pile of weight off the drivetrain though I'd probably have to do a new rear propshaft or make a spacer.

Can anyone think of other advantages that having wheel brakes vs transmission brake would have?

There is no up grade for Disco rotors at this time. Yes I can see how the removal of the e-brake would shed a little weight.

I have always thought that having the brake at the rear wheels was a safer thing to do. With the open diff on the Rover, it could still slide. Doesn't seem very safe to me...

Off road, while locked up is not an issue cause the e-brake will lock up a front wheel also if your CDL in engaged.

if your CDL is engaged.
That was my point. Some you can't engage CDL. I wasn't thinking about this being a safety issue for people that know their trucks. Not too many people read the owner's manual or check the location of the parking brake before helping someone change a tire on the side of the road.
