Default Parts Help

Got a call from the lawyer today and was told i am getting about 2200.00 after my doc bills from a accident i was in while in Dallas about a year and a half ago.

Heres the question, what should i buy for or do to my land rover. I use it for camping or driving out to the trails to go Mountain biking and some road tripping from AZ to CA mostly.
It is bone stock and it has zero issues (knock on wood) i was thinking about beefing up the tires from what they are currently (stock tires on 18" Factory)

Any suggestions would be a lot of help, as i have fallen in love with this damn thing and am looking to keep it as long as she will run. Even if it is just stuff i should revamp or replace to keep her up to date, let me know.

Thanks in advance

maybe i should rephrase this:

What would one do if they had the funds to spend that would keep the LR in good running order given it has no issues at present time or add to the enjoyment factor of the vehicle.

Thanks again,

John

Disco Mike's 60K service at the top of the Discovery section is the best start one can hope for. After that a set of 16's for off road.

Dang, I was going to make another crack about USC, but I just can't. My team chalked up another loss last night so I will sit, quietly, in the corner. However, as for your truck, did you get the front driveshaft rebuilt yet. That would be the first thing that I would fix, even before your settlement check comes in. Should cost about $180 to have a shop do the work, maybe another $90 if you have the shop take it out and put it back in.

With the mileage, you are probably getting close to a head gasket "service" (they all need them done sooner or later). Do it yourself, $500 +/-, have a shop do it $1800 +/-. See how easy that was, $2000 spent clean and easy.

Use the other $200 for a tank of gas and a nice dinner for your wife, girlfriend or significant other. If you strike out in that department, go get a double double from In-n-Out and a new set of rubber mats for off-road and inclement weather adventures.

Go Cougars!

Front prop-shaft rebuild, replace any worn steering components, as mentioned before it might be a good idea to save it for your headgasket service if/when it's ready

But that's boring.....a more fun way to spend that $2200 is........OME lift ~$750, new tires ~$800, used 16" wheels from junkyard ~$300...Hi-Lift Jack ~$65

THanks for the ideas.. I had the Drive shaft rebuild looked at immediately after ready all the horror stories, luckily it was done by the previous owner as was the conversion to spring and removal of the bags. so i will now turn to the HG and other components that show some wear and tear.

In regards to the HG, how will i know if it is due? I have no loss of coolant and it runs smooth with no issues. Is it something i can diagnose or will it demand me taking it to a technician?

Thanks again

ps. Engine was replace at 48K ago per documentation, would the HG still be a factor at this time?
