Default Patching Radiator Hose?

I was performing the Extinct thermometer replacement today, and pulled up on the rigid narrow hose that runs from the expansion tank to radiator. It's clearly old and brittle, so cracked cleanly. I ordered a new one, but won't be here for a few days -- any way to patch this temporarily?

Okay, that sounds like a good option.

I'm not sure. Probably. It's a new truck. I'm flushing and replacing with Prestone.

Also, getting these factory clamps off has been a huge pain!

Absolutely DO NOT use fuel hose, it is not rated for the temperature, will get hot and blow off. Cancel your order for the rigid hose. Go to the auto parts store and get 5/16 transmission cooler hose. It is rated for the temperature and the pressure.

Didn’t know that thought fuel hose was thick and if it could stand up to fuel it could stand up to coolant

I buy copper tubing and bend my own replacement tube and partially flare ends of tubing (first step of flaring, just bulge tubing).

Plus, 5/16 hose does not fit into the two small guides on top of radiator, under upper rad cover, and l've bought 2 Dll's where the rubber replacement hose were complete collapsed by the cover. If you do use rubber hose, l'd route/secure hose in front of radiator, not through original route over top of rad.

But yeah, getting rid of those cheap/crappy/garbage plastic lines is a plus. Just be sure to secure everything nicely and watch routing location.

Just want to say thanks to @Extinct for the thermometer mod. My truck was running 200-220, and now sits in the 180-190 range. Another happy customer, and another Disco that will stay on the road!
