Default PCV tune up?

Just watching AB video talk about the Oil Separator and how this can cause valve cover gasket leaks. Are we changing our valve cover gaskets too frequently or am I missing the part where folks have already changed out the oil separator before they change out the valve cover gaskets?

Valve cover gaskets never need to be changed, you need to clean/replace the oil separator. The only way an engine leaks oil from the top is excessive crankcase pressure - only caused by plugged separator. The one exception is when the separator has been plugged too long - valve cover gaskets get cooked and hard by excessive combustion gases in the crankcase ie valve covers.

Oil separator should be checked, cleaned or replaced occasionally. Should be able to easily suck or blow air through separator tube, if not it's likely clogged. Many threads on the subject if you search, some recommend just cleaning/flushing with carb cleaner or Seafoam while separator still installed if difficult to remove as some have reported. Advantage being no broken separator or need to purchase replacement. Mine is due and will be doing the clean/flush because it's almost impossible to remove separator without rocker cover removal on the new/improved '03/'04s covers. Hoses to manifold should be checked for blockage/security/deterioration.

Included some attached info from D2 and RR manual that has a better illustration/description.

There is a trick to the 03-04 models - grab the metal tube with a pair of pliers and twist - you can twist the entire tube and it will come out of the valve cover - get the separator out from the bottom once the tube is out.
