That is a little fan/temp sensor for the HVAC.

Thanks, Any idea on part number, etc? Assuming it's gone bad if it buzzes constantly.

Blow it out with one of those cans of air you use on computer parts. Just a quick cleaning got me back to silent operation

Thanks, good idea ... pull it out and blow off the 'part' or just *****-nilly from the outside?

Is that sensor easy to access under the grille? Mine is buzzing too so I blew it out with compressed sir in a can, I still have the buzzing but it seems a little better. It's imperceptible over the radio so I tend not to pay it much mind.

It can be annoying to get to, but it's not too big of a job to pull it out and clean it thoroughly.
There's a tiny fan in there. When it gets clumps of lint and fluff on the blades, you start to get a buzzing or ticking sound.
