Spike: Make an off-roading video or informational product and do a joint venture with the guys on this forum, or any other rover-email listing, and you can. It's easier than you think.

Spike- where is this airforce base? Can anyone go, any time of the year/week/day?

Is it usually busy?

Thanks friend!

The Air Gunnery Range is open to the public, it is in Waters MI, about 10 miles or so East of I-75, if you Google Earth MI and find the Waters exit (252?) and then follow that road east you will find it.
You cannot go into the gunnery range but there is a trail that goes all the way around it, it is 17.5 miles long, hills, deep sand, mud if it rained, deep ruts and a huge hill with various degrees of steepness.
You can climb up the steep stuff but there is a less steep part to climb, then you inch to the edge and from inside the truck and you cant see the bottom, when you start your descent if your not belted in you will be against the windshield.
There are other trails around there as well, there are even signs posted on the country roads "Tank Crossing", just like the "deer crossing" signs.
There is a area where you can watch the planes take target pratice too.
Here are a few pics for ya.

Thanks for the pictures and description, Phil! I know you've told me about this place several times, but I'd really like to go there.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to talk Mandy into going up there today, or not. She's not a big fan of being in the vehicle when going over hills and stuff.

We'll see! I have a lot of work to do, but if I go up there, I'll take my flip and make a sweet video!

Well keep in mind Pat that it is a 3 hour drive one way, I am planning a long weekend up there in July with 99LR, he lives in Flint and has never been wheeling before.
SO if you guys want to join us then you are more than welcome.
That will give you time to plan a what not.

That would be the highlight of my summer, Phil, if it weren't for the fact that I'll be in Colorado visiting a friend.

If you guys decide to go either in June or late August... PLEASE let me know!

Maaaan, that would be awesome, Wheeling with the two of you!! I've never been wheeling before either.

HAVE FUN, man...

Nothing is set in stone yet, July gives me time to save up gas money, but who knows, maybe 2 trips this summer would be required.
