Default Pictures of my Rod and Main Bearings

Here they are, I'm going to assume these are pretty worn?

And the crankshaft, too. One poster from New Zealand used some crocus cloth (abrasive strip) to "touch up" the crank, of course that can't compete with a machine shop. The bearing surface is "soft" and will wear into where it is placed, if there is a line in the old one there will soon be a line in the new one.

But wear on the mains eventually cause loss of oil pressure; will be interesting to see your new oil pressure.

You have some work in front of you.
Can you take a couple pictures of the crank?

Boy, talking about being in that grey area. At your mileage, if it were mine, I would leave then alone versus a big expense. With good, frequent oil changes you should get a lot of life out of that crank. I would check and replace the oil pump and chain while you are in there.

Mike, when you say leave it alone, I assume you mean replace all of the bearings and do not get the crank machined? I am also changing the timing chain and oil pump.

Video of timing chain:

Surprisingly the oil pump seems pretty good. No cracks, no unusual wear, but I'll still replace the gears. The front crankshaft seal was leaking oil.

UPDATE - My wife was giving me hell about getting "her" garage back so I had to hurry up and finish. I was unable to get all of the mains out without having to remove the exhaust manifold and y-pipe which was just going to take too much time.

So I replaced the oil pump gears, timing chain, rod bearings, all gaskets, belt, soaked and cleaned everything.. Put it all back together and as soon as the temps reached 150º plus the random knock was still there!

So it's down to the main bearings or sleeve. In the Rover spirit of doing every freaking project twice, I tore it all back apart today and then some. After I got the exhaust out of the way I was able to get all of the main bearings out, here they are:

I've also looked very closely at the bottom of the sleeves and they do not appear to have moved at all. Fingers crossed, hopefully the main bearings will be it.
