Default planning to buy disco 2 need advice

I am planning on buying 2003-2004 disco 2 under 100k miles. I never owned disco before.. So I need some advice before I buy one.. I want to know do all disco comes CDL if not how can I find out its already there? And is there any common problems on disco which I should consider before I buy such as engine, transmission, cats.....

No, 02 and 03's did not have a CDL.
What will you be using this Disco for?
I always tell every one, go pay and have a pre-purchase inspection done before you buy yourself a load of trouble.

Love the D2's/hate LR America! Having said that, I'm at the end of my rope with the mechanical problems. How bad do you really want it??? For mine, pre-inspection didn't uncover anything, all scheduled maintenance was done (CARFAX), 1 owner, it only had 60K mi, and the condition inside/out appeared flawless. I've spent $3K in the first 2 months of ownership (oil pump, lifters, + bat cable, bent rod) and still have a knocking sound that is probably going to turn out to be loose piston sleeves.

Pradheep Thavamani buy on 04 it already has a CDL.
Dan7 what kind on pre-inspection did you have if you need 3k put into it? Did you bring it to a LR specialist or Jiffy Lube?

My main purpose to buy this because I want to off road during summer and I can use it for winter as well. I didn't know disco's have lot of
Problems like you said. It seems I have to consider alot before buying. I wish I
Can afford to buy a defender and they are very expensive in America.. By any chance you get all these problems on a certain year disco or all series II disco have this problem?

Neither...something inbetween (Mobile Inspection Service). There were no LR specialist equivalent.
