I was going to remove and clean the plastic oil separator but found out it is wedged tightly inside the breather tube. It looks very grimy in there.
Does the plastic oil separator that sits in the breather tube on the engine supposed to be free to remove? Or does it have to be twisted some way to come out?
I can't get a grip on it with a needle nose pliers or a scribe. I might drill it out and at the same time suck out the plastic shavings so it won't end up inside the engine.
Anyone else seen this problem before?
Thanks in advance!

Try twisting and pulling the metal tube out of valve cover , then drill the plastic piece out,,
Do yourself a favor & just put hollow metal tube back in place, & use a generic oil separator like fram FV237 or similar in between metal tube & intake using 2 pieces of hose & you will never have same problem again,
If you can't pull it off, take the valve cover over and remove the plate from the inside top of the cover (8-10 Phillips head screws) and push out with a screw driver. I had the same issue. Had mine powder coated and I forgot about it and so did the guy that powder coated it and it melted in there. It worked out great though since I had to take it off and that way I could clean that plate and make sure where wasn't anymore media residue behind that splash shield.
I couldn't wait until tomorrow to get started on this so I worked on it tonight and I got it out!
I sprayed a little of brake cleaner inside and outside the oil separator metal tube, stuck a screwdriver inside the tube and twisted the hell out of it until the tube turned. It surprised the hell out of me that it came loose so easily.
Took some needle nose pliers and yanked the tube out of the valve cover. I then shoved a punch through the tube and voila, the plastic oil separator popped out.

Is that FV237 unidirectional? They are so cheap, I might put one on each side of the manifold.
I ordered the pcv tune up kit off of eBay from Atlantic British and it has the oil seperator and both hose for $21.95. Seemed like an ok deal since the oil seperator was around $11-$12
