Please help!!
I have a 2002 Land Rover Discovery 2 with 183,000+ miles on it, it overheated last year in December. Anyways 8 months went by and finally decided to take my vehicle to a "reputable" shop. They disassemble the heads and did a block test, it passed, heads went to the machine shop those are good. So then reassembled everything topped it off and was good to go. The day I went to pick it up and drove it back home I noticed that the temperature was at 221° F. I have an Ultragauge plugged in my OB2 to get accurate data. I called the shop and the owner said that this was a normal temperature which I don't really agree with him. Anyways moving forward, I'm driving it today and the temp got up to 212° F doing 30 mph, as I increased in speed I notice the temperature go up a few degrees and finally it reached 221° F. I came back home and the hoses were stiff from pressure and I could hear the coolant tank hissing from the pressure too. Just before all of this I noticed my temperature go all the way up to 244° F then come down to 234° F. Anyways I don't know what to say to this or even begin to do other than the obvious to take it back to the shop. I don't have the money to do another repair or whatever is gonna happen. Side note: I have a 3 inch lift with 33" tires and steel wheels so I don't know if the weight and size is putting a strain on my engine hence why it's building pressure and heat.
it's possible that the coolant system is not "bled" properly and there is still some air bubbles in it.
those temps are way too high, though, and the shop needs to get this figured out.
temps with a stock 190 degree thermostat should see coolant temps from 190-210 with the outside temp being in the 70's and 80's.
221 is too high. 244 is most likely doing damage to the new head gaskets.

221 is NOT normal temps. The shop is full of ****. I would have been pissed to hear that. Take it back and make them fix it. I’d have them check for damage.
Im guessing it’s not bled correctly.
How frustrating! Good luck!

@Lr2D2 244 is over heat that is at or a deg below or at the warning light going off. There are exactly 3 possibilities outside of screwed up head gakset job :
Note a cold block test may not have found a crack related leak, you need to do a hot test in many cases if it is a micro crack that only opens under temp.
- Bad thermostat will cause that as it can not open
- A completely pooched cooling system fill and bleed (a ton of air basicly)
- Bad water pump

Yeah definitely taking it back and explain that this is abnormal. They gave me a 1 year labor warranty so I'll what they'll say. I paid $1850 just get this up and running so I think it's outrageous for them to do a sloppy job. Thanks everyone for reaching out. I had confidence that these guys were legit and did good work but I guess not. I'm based in Katy Texas and their shop is called British Auto Solutions.
Also all of cooling system parts are all new with the exception of the radiator which is the Nissens radiator I bought off lucky8 and it's only 4 years old. Everything else is genuine parts, except the fan clutch because that was way to expensive so I bought it off AutoZone instead.
