Yes. While it's true that you could break the plastic lines, they shouldn't be THAT brittle. If they are, then they need to be replaced anyway and you're better off breaking one while you're standing there bleeding the system than having it fail while you're out driving around...

i had simular problem
I filled it to the bread screw, I had the recovery tank raise, as well as the front of the truck slightly elevated and still had a problem and no heat. I pulled off the heater return hose for like 20 secounds untill I saw coolant start coming out, and put the hose back on, the air washed thru no more problems. I think the heat core had enough air in it to cause an air pocket that would not work out the ussual way.

Thank you guys for really vetting this out, Mike, we have spoken in the past but I definitely appreciate you reaching back out and making yourself available for a call again.
I plan on doing all of the recommendations this evening (elevated car elevated tank, removing heater return hose) and let you know how it works out.

Update: raised the reservoir til the coolant came out the bleed screw, filled it up, and then pumped the hose while it ran, almost immediately got it blowing super hot. Drove it around for 20 minutes or so, temp gauge stayed pegged right in the middle. Thank you guys so much for your help!
