Well would that be great to install a mislabeled t-stat. The radiator is non restricted. I flushed it both ways for at least 5 min each way. The only thing i can think of is an inefficient radiator, but the lower radiator hose is barely warm once the coolant flows through the radiator. Only other thing would be a worn impeller on the WP. Dunno. That for the feedback guys.

Just to be sure you are using the proper bleed procedure and lifting the coolant tank above the engine bay? If you've got no air in there then you are still running too hot with a new T-Stat. You want the grey 180 one that was used in diesel Freelanders.

Park it on a hill and let it cycle. The temp is the temp at the sensor, not the t-stat. Turn your heat on and see how hot your heat gets, if it's not very hot, you have air.

I dont believe you have any restriction either, I've been in dozens of radiators and have never seen any with more than a couple blockages at the very bottom.

is your bleeder on the T fitting at the alternator or is the bleeder on top of the radiator?

What state do you live in?

I’m in Texas and through this great forum I am positive that I have the system completely bled. I used 2.75 gallons of coolant and raised the tank over the T. I was also parked on an incline. The first time I turned it over to idle the air was hot. Thanks to all who helped on this.

I watched the temps again today. On the freeway it was 186-189* and around town it was 208-210 sitting still and 204 driving down the road. I have a kalahari grill that I’ve been meaning to get painted and put on and I’m curious if there will be a noticeable difference.

The 186-189 is nice...

208-210 isnt too bad, how does your fan clutch feel?

186-189 is great on the highway. I'd say you're still climbing too high at idle though. Fan clutch would be a good option. Knock that out with the waterpump and your probably going to be under 200 going forward. I'd always suggest going with the inline thermostat mod eventually. Night and day difference.
