Plugs and Wires. Has anyone here replaced their own plugs on their discovery?
I have a 2004 discovery and was wondering if its something doable to replace my own plugs and wires instead of paying close to $1000 for the dealership to do it. I know they are in the back and probably harder to get to but...
Any comments would help, thanks!!

yes it is doable and it is fairly easy. i did mine 3 months after i bought the rig. did it in a january evening,,,outside. ran the engine for 15min before i went to work so my hands were in a warm environment. anyways,,, i did the entire job in about 2 hours with a small flashlight to guide me. the hardest part is removing the metal tubing at the back of the intake manifold and snaking it out and back in place. have a detailed diagram of the coil packs so you know where each wire lead needs to plug in to. for this you will need a small set of hands to reach the coil packs or a lot of patience and a willingness to bust some knuckles,,, then just reverse your way back out.
plugs are plugs. remove and replace.
i had to re-remove the IAC piping again due to the fact that i did not completely snap a plug wire into place due to my hands starting to fatigue and tire in the cold. but once i got it all back together it was all good and has been since.
on a scale of 1-10 for a first timer. i would call it a 5 just based on the small work area and test of patience. just work slow and it will go well.
i would say that 75% of us here do all our own work to our rigs.

Yes many of us have done the wires and plugs see the sticky. Magnecor 8mm wires are good, here is the cheapest price:

Kingsborne wires are good on a budget. Any quality plugs will do. Here is the firing order courtesy jyscalas

Consider buying the 8 mm Magnacor wires, on-line and do it right.
Yeah, I am actually picking up some Magnacor from the Land rover dealership with some factory plugs. Is there anything else that I should be changing since I will be in there anyway? Air Filters?
How much are magnecors from the dealer? They are $85 from Apex, hard to beat that price even with shipping. Maybe clean out your throttle body and idle solenoid and consider an induction cleaning if you have not already. Also put 2 bottles of techron in a full tank of premium.
