Default Pollen Filter Hack

Just thought I would share this with folks.

Grabbed some cutable filter material from Home Depot (not a new idea). As I was putting it in, I realized the clips were not sufficient to hold the filter in place. So I trimmed up some of the filter frame to fit and snapped it in place. Seems like it does a more secure job holding the filter in place.

Finished product

Thanks for posting, my original filter has long since disintegrated to dust and I have a few clips missing. I shudder to think how much stuff has been sucked in to my blower motor since the last time I cleaned it out. Might have to implement this ASAP after I find a way to replace the missing clips somehow (probably 3D print them).

With this mod, you don’t need any clips. The plastic frame holds everything in on its own.

Nice hack! Did you find anything at home depot that will replace my shattered windshield cowl?

Yes! Did my repairs with JB Weld Plastic Bonder. Once cured, I sanded and polished with plastic polish. Not perfect, bit it works effectively.

I may have to give that a try! Mine is cracked in a few more places than yours, but it might still work. Yours looks good after the polishing! I also learned about the dash hold down kit via your links which I hadn't seen before and will have to give a go in the future.

Just curious, the actual filter isn't that expensive ($25 at Atlantic British) why the hack?

Anytime I go to a junked Disco, I take clips. See if any yards have a disco lying around in your area.

$12 for this filter material and it can be had at any Walmart, Lowes or Home Depot. Also, the $12 buys you a full year's worth of filter material. But you're right - not so much a cost issue - more of a convenience item.
