Is it possible to fit better brake componets from a different model/make?

The SS lines should not be under estimated. Even the newest Disco is running 14 year old hoses now. Expansion in the hoses will lower braking force and pedal feel easily. One of the best changes I have made on my Rover's and my MGB for the brakes hands down.

X1 goes a long way to eliminating some of the spongy brake pedal feeling.

Having said that there are six hoses that actually need replacing, two are in the inline system I believe feeding the rear brakes. I've never seen any vendor who sells these as the kits seem restricted to the 4 hoses immediately before each of the calipers.

AB sells the SS jump lines, but they are expensive. I recall around $40 ea. I ordered mine from Crown Performance, http://crownperformance.com. I think I paid around $60 shipped for both.

That would I would have done, except I already bought a Terrafirma kit that had the 4 lines for the calipers.
