@Harvlr oh yes it is tossing codes, less often now that is it warmer but, pretty regularly. Changing them out this week

 

Then more than likely it was just cold & running rich upon a cold start. Sorry for the long post earlier, but I just had to share my friends nightmare experience with a stuck open injector.

All Rover V8's run rich to begin with so toss cold weather into that and yep a cold start will certainly smell until she warms up.

I switched my XD over to 4 hole Ford injectors and a fuel pressure regulator with a bit more pressure. Those single hole injectors were just like a B52 bomb run vs a precise laser guided bomb aka 4 hole injectors. I will see how the MPG is effected, but it certainly idles better and has more mid range power.

 

@Best4x4 never hurts to hear the worst case, I find it stops the I will ignore it and it will go away attitude. I will interested how the ford injectors work out
