Default Possible of SAI problem

Hey Gang

I have a 2000 Disco 2. Orginally had SAI on the old motor. Blew up the motor. Put in a donor that didn't have SAI. Ran well all summer till this last week. Have had trouble getting it to start if left out in cold. I can crank and crank might start. Or I can put in garage and start fine. It will start all day after the first start of the day. Do have SAI engine codes because SAI isn't there. Is this my problem? Should I try to swap the heads? Or the computer? How hard is each? Any advice I appreciate.

anybody know anything about secondary air intake? Could this keep the Disco 2 from starting?

Yes I have been running these heads since spring. Since it has gotten cold weather outside it won't start if left outside. at about 35 degrees or colder. I have the other heads. Wonder how hard they are to change?

SAI missing won't affect the engine starting...its purely an emissions device. As for the actual no-start issue...possibly crank sensor? although those usually act up after a heat soak.

Hey Rovertech1

I heard about the Crank position sensor. Changed about month ago no difference. Did tap on the idle control valve once and it started after that. I changed the Control valve and waiting to see if that makes a difference. Glad to hear the secondary air intake has no bearing on that I don't want to change it.

I've got a non-SAI ECM you can have for the cost of shipping. I'm not sure of the condition because I had an issue where the BCU and the ECM wouldn't talk to each other. I replaced them as a pair because at the time I didn't have a way to sync the security code.

Jafir,
I'd take the ECU if you can't get rid of it. You gonna be at SCARR again this year?

Not sure. It was a lot of fun, but it is kind of pricey. Someone pointed out that you could go to the National Rally for about the same money. (except for travel, of course). I'll have to decide soon, because if I wait until after Jan 5, it gets REALLY pricey.

Hey I appreciate the offer on the ECM. But I have the one from the donor vehicle and bcm module as well. I have been kinda of nervous about changing them because of the security lock out. What is the process of changing them out and what do I have to have to make them work. I have them off the body as a pair.
