My D2. I saved it from a salvage auction. Not done yet. Still needs a roof rack, brush guard and I'm thinking about adding to the lift

How has this thread stalled?

Here are mine in order (I’ve only really had one that runs at a time).

My first. An ‘01 SE7. I cut my teeth on it until I killed it.

I kept it as a parts car and did another fly and drive for my 2nd, a non-SAI ‘00 SE7 loaded to the gills with everything. The boss got tired of me working on it all the time as it was my daily, so I stupidly sold it. That machine was loved like no other. It was far from heavily modified, but suited my purposes to a tee.

I miss that one a lot if for no other reason that I’d imbedded myself into it and I loved the option set.

Fast forward to my latest one, an ‘04 HSE. We have moved out of suburbia hell and have some decent space, so the boss let me get another one. It is still very much a work in progress and will end up very much like the blue one. I get lit up for this a lot, but I have a heavily modified Jeep for off road, so the Disco is truly an SUV for me- that I know could easily be turned into something that will keep up with the Jeep, but will be used as a winter commuter and camping/adventure vehicle like the blue one if I can ever get back to riding again- although it has been a great MTB transport thus far.

I’m still fixing a bunch of stuff and getting it to a steady state, but goals are 265 65 18 tires, 2” lift, and another Voyager. I may do a winch at some point, but will probably do sliders again as they make the rack a lot easier to load.

We need more pictures on this thread!

It’s just a simple Kuat Transfer v2. I had a big birthday last year and the boss got me a super high end bicycle with a carbon frame that I didn’t want to hang off my existing racks, so I found a cheap and quick solution. Loading is super easy and it’s as stable as you’d expect. I’ve run it on the Jeep and the Disco, and the only downside is that I need to put an extender/drop in order to open either tailgate. Otherwise I’d recommend it.

I actually prefer roof mounted racks, but the Jeep is lifted enough and when the roof rack is on it, I even have to stretch pretty good at 6’7” to get things on top. After I re-do the Disco suspension even with a mild lift, it too will be a bit tall, so the hitch rack it is.
