Default Power Steering Help!

Recently noticed my 2000 Disco 2 losing p/s fluid. Topped it of to max line, and no leak, but as soon as I shut the engine down I noticed a constant drip coming from what I believe is the p/s suction hose. I added a bottle of Lucas leak stop, and let the vehicle idle with no fluid loss, however once I turned the vehicle off the fluid did leak out. Could it be a bad hose? Thanks in advance.

Yes it could be a hose. I have hade the return hose leak inside of its little protective sleeve at elbow

PAS hoses become porous and leak after a few years (about 10 years normally) particularly at the alu joints to the rubber hose. The TD5 is infamous for wearing through the alu against the engine sump.

Uv dye additive makes locating ps leaks much easier

Default P/S hose removal

What is the easiest way to remove this hose? Does it have a clamp on the end coming from the P/S pump? Thanks again.

It has a union at the PS pump end and a compression clip at the reservoir bottle end, dump this clip for a jubilee clip. (I'm talking TD5 and assume the V8 is the same)

yep. that's what I do, too. no easy task getting to it to tighten, but after you get the right orientation and angle it is doable

After the hose is replaced and the reservoir topped-off, does the system need to be bled or am I good to go?

I just turn my wheels from full lock to full lock a few times with engine running and cap off the reservoir. Just be sure not to hold wheels at full lock.

I would check the hose after a few days diving to make sure it is still dry. I have replaced that hose only to find the original leak was from the pump running down onto the hose making it appear to be the leak.

Just to clear up a Lucas P/S Stop Leak mistake, it is not for outer leaks but to prevent internal pressure leaks.
