Default Power steering whine, even after new pump..

My new to me 01 had a very bad leaking PS pump. Replaced it today and though different, it is whining. No more leaks, but the power assist feels erratjc. What's up?

Did you bleed the power steering box?

If you did, it usually needs done a couple times.
If you didn't, that's the problem.

No. Thought the pump would force any air out. Just turned the wheel back and forth, lock to lock. I'll be happy to hear I did this wrong. 😊

bleed it kinda like brakes.
turn steering lock to lock, open bleeder with wrench, a clear hose helps, but not needed, just wipe the fluid off good, because it'll eat the paint off the box and frame.
don't let the resivoir run low and suck more air either.

Bleeder is the shiny silver colored one on box on the right.
Next to set screw and lock nut, that adjust play in the box

Repeat until just fluid comes out, and no air.
You'll know.
It may take several times.
