Haha!!! I take every chance I get as well! She now patiently waits for me to unlock the truck and run back around to the passenger side to help her in. (Why couldn't Land Rover have put a lock on the passenger side?!?)

I've even caught myself opening the car door for men a couple times out of habit. Ok, THAT might be strange to see...

PS: That's one of the main reasons I refuse to own a car without Remote Unlock. I even installed it on my 1966 Mustang for this reason. It only cost about $40, but makes the wife happy for a lifetime.

 

I did a 3" HD TF lift and my ride quality was much better. I just added the Tf107 (Lucky8) and 5 285/75/16 Guard Dogs. I had 265/50/20 tires on before and the mud tires are a little louder. I love the set up. I have a lot of added weight on mine though. Spike your that little lol

 

Heres another practical reason for getting a 2" lift: Makes the Disco look even better and more beefy. Adds additional ground clearance which is handy when paved roads get flooded after the snow thaw or heavy rainfall. Better view into the cabin of the car beside you - because the girl has a nice dashboard

the biggest setback to adding a lift of any size to your Disco: you wont be able to go as many places (garages, drive through, car wash etc).

I dont even have a lift YET and I still get finicky about those commercial indoor garage lots because the ceiling is so dam low, I always have to inch my way in and constantly look up through my sun roofs to make sure Im not scraping the ceiling!

 

I normally read the Clearance Height sign before entering. I figure if I hit something, then I have an obvious recourse to get them to fix my vehicle.

Yes, it feels strange when it looks like it's about to hit, but if you get out, there's usually more room than it feels like. Again, I never enter without reading the sign first.

PS: My wife has a pretty nice "Dashboard" herself, and is a fan of other people's "Dashboards", so the lift will be appreciated by both of us when I get around to it.

 

Has anyone measured there ride height? Would be interesting to compare my standard disco 1 to others. How about from the ground to the bottom of the wheel arch... mine are
Left/front=80.8cm(31.81inches)
right/front=78.1cm(30.74inches)
left/rear= 80.8cm(31.81inches)
right/rear= 78.2cm(30.78inches)

from hub centre to bottom of arch
is 47cm on the left and 45cm on the right

tyre size is 255/65/R16

Is this about normal? or as I would suspect on a 1997 disco a bit lower than normal?
Should there be a difference from side to side? I seem to remember from the old days that there was a difference because of driver weight. Is that correct?

I believe stock D2 height (with new springs) is 6'4'' max. Mine with a 2'' lift and 265/75/16 tires blows a kiss to the 6'9'' clearance bar at my school's parking deck. By that I mean BARELY misses it.
