If AAA wants to pay to decarbon your engine or do a valve job when you bend your valves, then sure go cheap and see what happens. ALL Rovers have to run premium, other wise the engine will carbon up, you can do valve damage and you will loose about 2 MPG on cheap stuff.
Enjoy your new truck.

New owner also. I was told to use regular gas not premium... So, always use premium gas?

Always use Premium fuel cost alittle more up front but saves money
in the long run.
9.35 to 1 is not very high compression but high enough to have
problems if you don't run premium.

I use premium. If fact, inside my fuel door it has a sticker that says to "alway use premium" or something to that effect. So I use premium. I can tell a minor difference when driving. But I notice a bigger difference if I run my Mini Cooper with regular than premium, so at least I know there is a difference even if it's not a noticable in the Rover as other makes.

But to each his own. Since I'm not paying for your gas it's your option!

-I asked the same question when I bought my '03 DII. that's why this forum is invaluable!!

I asked the same question too! But now that I made the switch my truck runs much better, and I can honestly tell a difference. If you have been running regular I would go out and buy a can of sea foam and put it in the tank, that also cleaned up the engine a little and again I saw a difference. Its worth it to use premium, and if you look at the price you pay its only like $5 more a fill up and you get 2 MPG more so it all works out. ALWAYS USE PREMIUM!

Read the owners manual. It tells you that you must use premium.
Pay a little more now and save ALOT later.

While I do not campaign against use of premium fuel, I can't see how it can deliver extra 2 MPG [sm=smiley23.gif]

Higher flash point, but more boom when it goes. More boom=more power at the wheels. Also burns cleaner, thus not leaving carbon deposits to hinder operation. This is why 8MM Magnacor wires are so highly recommended....
