Previous Owners SUCK
Alright... I did my plugs yesterday with no issues except for one cylinder.
The last owner thought it would be a good idea to put in crappy bosch plugs they don't sell anymore and crossthread the block after stripping the first two threads.
So I then had to buy an 80 dollar tool called the "back-tap" to fix this.
All because the previous owner either did not do maintenance, or did it wrong
Just had to rant...
It's funny because I started fixing things as they needed to be repaired and I have almost done the complete 60k service.
My power steering resevior had a crack so I flushed and changed it
My radiator leaked so I flushed and changed it
My brake hose ruptured so I drained, and changed it, then bled them all (MADE A HUGE DIFFERNCE AFTER BLEEDING)
Got a gift card for autozone so I did all my diff/transfer/engine oils
Got another gift card to autozone so I did plugs and wires (got wires online) (HOLY **** CAN MY CAR ACCELERATE NOW
)
Bought fuel filter, but cannot get the old one off, spray with PB blaster every now and then.
Changed oil filter with oil, and air filter just now
Had to change tranny fluid because when I changed the radiator a lot came out
Cleaned brakes, as the back ones came out of their "holders" so I had the wheels off anyways
Cleaned maf, with cleaner to fix idle issues
cleaned throttle body to fix idle issues
replaced all sorts of heater hoses that had minor leaks (could smell coolant when driving everywhere)
someday i'll be able to afford tires
I've also had to rewire pretty much EVERY light on the car inside and out
Bought all sorts of interior parts to fix little broken odds and ends
And recently I replaced my CDL lever, and removed the solenoid preventing me from going into 4WD because of electrical issues.
All because the previous owner either did not do maintenance, or did it wrong!
/rant
but at least my rover is running pretty well
next to do:
tires
springs/struts
starter
and whatever else breaks

Yep, I hear ya. Had to spend some 6 grands to get my Disco to like new condition in the first year. And except for the head gasket, front gasket and custom radiator,I did the work myself!
That is why most people that come here telling us about wanting to buy a Disco, get warned to get ready to spend an extra grand on repairs and maintenance.

Yes, they do. I got lucky with my Rover that I bought it from a dealer who did quite a bit of work but that hasn't stopped me from having to put more money in to little annoyance stuff. I'm slowly working my way through the 60K service even though I have 111K on the truck.
lol i got most of the 60k done at 190k
I just COULD NOT BELIEVE that after stripping the first couple threads the guy decided to just keep putting the spark plug in, total retard

Ok kids.... Im doing everything on the 60k list, to my Ride even if it only has 46k on it!!!
Im sorry about your troubles man, my heart really goes out to you.
Hopefully I can Dump my old Mitsi for $1000 more than what I paid for the Disco and use that cash for the parts!!

What has to be done for this 60k service? i have a 1999 disco 2, 135k-miles and wanna get a ton of stuff done, have had to replace
my front driveshaft with greasable u-joints and a couple O2 sensors. I am her 3rd owner. I've decided to name her "Cary" after the spare tire cover having the name of a dealer and a Bengal Tiger walking. Good name, You like? let me know what you think of thename and could some one just post a list or send me a link that would tell me what is the 60k about?

Just gotta give discomike credit as it is his list... and these are his instructions below
OK, here is my way of cleaning an engine, especially if it hasn't been done in awhile.
Buy one can of any good engine flush, 3 cans of SeaFoam and a couple feet of vaccum line.
Flush the engine oil first, use the flush, let it idle for 10 or 20 minutes, change the oil and filter.
Put one can of SaeFoam in the gas, one in the crank case and use the last can as an induction cleaner to clean the valves.
To do the induction system, find a good vaccum scourse on the manifold or throttle body. Using a pair of plyers as a metering system, put your vaccum hose in the SeaFoam can, hook the other end on to the engine, start the engine and restrick the flow so it take 2 or 3 minutes to empty the can into the engine. Turn off the engine for 30 minutes or more, then be prepaired to go drive it hard, naybe on the highway or some place where you can keep kicking the throttle for some high RPM's Yhe one big warn is that your truck will smoke like hell so be prepared, cause it will happen for up to 20 minutes.
Now after flushing the engine and then adding the SeaFoam, your new oil can get real dirty again real soon so keep an eye on it and change it again, maybe 1000 miles down the road.
Now your truck will show a big difference when you nail it.
