The fairness of the price has a lot to do with the region. Here in Colorado, serious off-road capable SUVs command a premium and dealer pricesor how much they'llnegotiate are reflected in that.

I paid $20,300 for an '04 Discovery S in August with 34,500 miles, the balance of the factory warranty and6/75 warranty thrown in as well. To me the S had more value because I did not want the sunroofs and preferred the 16" wheels. It did have the cold weather package as well, which is another nice plus for CO in January. Just don't fart in the seats when the heater is on or a stray spark could have disastrous results

Anyway, I'd bet you could compile evidence from Edmunds, NADA and kbb.com and put together a price that you think is fair, and circle back to the dealer. Given that we're now in 2008, I'll bet that price could come down another 2K, even with the warranty.

I bought my '04 Disco w/ 42k miles for almost $7k less than that dealer is asking.

I am not saying his price isn't "worth" it, but I'd keep shopping around, or at least talk the guy down some.

F' the aftermarket warranty, unless it is a real LR one.
So what did you pay at the end?

Just to give you comparison, I paid $18,500 about 1 year ago for my '04 SE with 45k on the clock and it was in pristine condition - not at a LR dealer. It was exactly what I wanted, because it then allowed me to extend the LR warranty. So after the $2700 for LR warranty extension at 50k miles (worth every penny) I paid around $21000 and have an awesome truck that doesn't cost me a penny to fix other than maintenance until 80k. If you can swing 18-19k with warranty I'd say you found a nice deal.

If you've got the cash in hand, I'd shoot for $19999 out-the-door! Tax, title, the 6/75, the works. Also havethem detail it.IMHO, I would only do this if it were an SE7... it being an SE I'd shoot for$17999 all inclusive.

And... only if it were Silver/Black or White/Tan.

It is Silver.

Why the higher price of the SE7. If I dont need the extra seats, dont they take up cargo room?

Yeah they do... but you can get a rack anyway and there's your cargo room. You can't put the 6th and 7th passengers on the rack. Eventhough I don't "need" the SE7 (I am unmarried and have no kids) for some wierd reason I value them over an SE.

EDIT: Oh and SE7s, in addition to the extra row of seating, also have rear air suspension. Pretty comfy I have heard.

Just under $15k. I guess it helped that my buddy and I bought two of them at the same time. It also helped that a friend was the salesman at the dealer. He told us what they had into it, and then we bought them for a few hundred bucks over that.

So... you're saying your situation was not common?

KBB lists this truck at $22k in good condition.

Never buy a LR based on the "value." Given the unreliable nature of these things, it's wise to pay for the history of the vehicle as much as anything. My buddy just bought an '04 last month for way more than anyone else wanted to pay. However, it belonged to a Land Rover sales manager who had every single work ticket that had been done in their LR shop. To me...that is worth big cash.
