problem with door unlocking
Hi all,
i have been doing loads of research on this and have not come to any solution yet.
I have a 2003 disco 2 se. the lock/unlock functions on the key fob have not worked since i got it, which we have decided is just a bad fob and the dealership wants upwards of 500 to get a new fob. So i have just been using the key, which has been fine until recently when the key stopped unlocking all doors except my driver’s door. The drivers door still locks & unlocks with the key, and all other doors still lock with the key as well. but none of the doors unlock with the key like they used to, i have to physically open the door from the inside.... even the hatch. :/ The unlock button inside doesn’t work either. It’s as if the lock tabs are stuck down, when i try to pull them up they’re stuck in the down position. I have to physically open the door for it to unlock.
Would appreciate any and all advice on this, please.

How good are you at circuit diagnosis? Download the Rave manual, check the wiring diagram and connector diagrams going to the door. You can check the circuits for signals to the motors. There is a connector just inside the door jamb, you can disconnect there without taking the door panel off. If the signal is not there, you either have a wire issue or a motor issue in the door, but since it is happening to all of them I doubt that. More likely the BCU is not sending the signal.

For what it's worth, the door lock pulls being stuck down isn't a "problem", this is the default action. If a door is locked and you are inside the truck, you cannot simply pull up on the post, you must pull the handle. Once to unlock ,the second time to actually open the door. Your truck doing this is not part of the problem.

This happens on mine when people manually lock the passenger front door, while I'm locking the Disco. For example, I'm about to turn the key to lock and the passenger opens the door and presses the lock button as I lock the vehicle.
Usually, the manual lock/unlock by the clock will resync it and the key will now unlock the doors.
BTW when this happens they key fob will not unlock the doors but will lock them.
Pressing the lock button once never works for me, I have to lock unlock a number of times and then suddenly the doors will unlock and all the key will work.
