Default Drivers Door Not Unlocking with Key

Hello all.

I have a 2002 Discovery II and it did not come with a key fob. If I have all the doors shut and I turn the key to the right, all the doors lock. If I turn the key to the left, all the doors unlock, except the driver's door. I don't feel the electric lock mechanism engaging when I turn the key to the left to unlock the door. I had to replace the door handle when the ignition broke, but the door lock had a broken portion of a key jammed inside the lock that came with the truck when I bought it anyway. However, when the door handle was replaced, it did unlock as it should a for a little while. I am tired of crawling through the passenger door to unlock the driver's door...

Any thoughts or tips. I didn't see a used unit on ebay.

Thanks as always for the help!!

What happens when you push the button on the dashboard?

(If it unlocks, then at least you don't have to crawl across any more.)

Thanks Mollusc. Yep, same thing happens when I hit the unlock switch on the center console - the driver door still won't unlock.

So it sounds like it might be the actuator in the driver's door then. While you're in there, install the upgraded door lock pin from Carrs4x4 (abran on this forum is the owner) as the original is a bit flimsy and can break if you over-use it..
