Problems removing transmission
New member here, new Discovery owner as well. My son purchased a 2002 DII last week with no forward gears. We have a replacement transmission and transfer case waiting to go in. I have removed all 14 mounting bolts and the torque converter bolts but I cant seem to get the trans separated from the engine?? It appears to be stuck right above where the starter mounts. I removed the starter for a better look, but that didnt really help much. We can get the case to come free on the bottom and other side but there is a holdup here. Is there a dowel or something in that spot that could be holding us back? Thanks in advance for any input and advice.
Have you taken out all the bolts including the 2 hidden ones? Checkout the RAVE manual for bolt locations.
It is far easier to remove the autobox without the transfer box attached as the two gearboxes are over 100kgs

From the photo you can see the locating dowels as well.
