Thanks again. Will take a look this weekend. With regard to play in the flange...should there be any movement if you tried to rotate the flange while the truck is in park? I'll check for overall tightness of the nut but curious about rotation. As I recall when I originally replaced the shaft, I was able to move it left/right a 1/4 inch or so.

rotation wise, you should have a little. Think about it this way. When you have the car in park, you are still able to rock it back and forth a little, right? thas the rotation you are seeing. im talking about left to right and up and down movement.

yep, a little play when rotating. I'll check the flange this weekend when I pull of the prop shaft again...fun. Thanks.

i know the pain of which you speak...I have to do the exact same thing next weekend. this weekend is dedicated to my 3 year old ball of energy niece..

Because driveline components mesh slightly differently depending on whether they are pushing the car, or the car is pushing them.

Makes sense on the push/pull. In fact, wife told me to "PUSH" the truck over a cliff! I'm filing for divorce today...
