Default PS pump

Preferred PS pump these days? One I bought from rock auto lasted a few weeks until it got cold and screams like a banshee until warmed up but still has a stiffer feeling than the old leaking one I removed.

Look at the thread just below this one. I would recommend replacing the seal on your original pump.

So weird the D1 pumps from the same place as the Chinese D2 pumps = work fine vs D2 that quickly die, **** themselves immediately, or have the wrong sized mount for the pulley....

D2 pump has a serious design flaw in the rear cover, gasket is too thin, too small a sealing land, and cover is too thing to allow significant tightening without cracking. Solution inbound but until then replace the gasket and tighten carefully.

Can you post the link? I didn’t see it and would like to know this one. My Alveston is a bit harder to turn and I’m thinking it’s the pump and was planning on replacing it as a means of seeing if I could make the steering easier. Thanks!

don't think it pertains to steering feel

Feel isn’t the concern, it’s that it is harder to turn the wheel. My first D2 was really easy to turn the wheel, and my last 2 drivers have been more difficult. The Giverny is super easy (on the 30 seconds at a time is has run), so that leads me to believe something is up. I’ve not bled, but there is zero whine or noises and I’ve changed out fluid but not done a full flush. I just figured it was the pump being wonky? I’ll read that other thread and see what I come up with.
