Put a new engine in. Oil light came on.
Here’s the situation. I have a 2001 discovery 2. The previous engine was a 4.0 and had the normal block cracked.
I found a rolled D2 with an excellent condition 4.6. I checked it out. It looked great. So I installed it in my car.
Finished the install. The engine fired right up. And ran great till the oil light came on. So I shut it down.
Any ideas on why my oil light is on?
Guessing its possible some debris from the removal found it’s way into a oil line? If so how do I remove it?
or any other ideas.

At this point I need to get the oil pressure gauge on it today. But my thoughts
-Clogged oil line or pick up screen.
-****ed up oil pump.
The engine ran great before the oil light came on. From the looks of it the engine was recently rebuilt. New head gaskets, studs, not bathed in oil.
My guess is something from the accident or install over worn bearings.

Also that using the 4.6 computer will likely trip the security system.
Worst case scenario I can always have my ECU reprogrammed.

Worn bearings is pretty rare on these, I have have two with low oil pressure at idle when purchased and when I pulled them apart the bearings looked fine, one was a walked cam bearing and one was a broken pump gear. Hope for the broken pump gear, it is an easier fix. Ken's plugged intake tube story is funny, I will let him tell it.
