Is this a quality 180 thermostat on amazon? It’s a lot cheaper than the other 180’s I’ve seen

I have had bad experiences with Britpart, but this thermostat gets good reviews.

Call Lucky 8 Directly and you will get the best price.

I use nothing but that thermostat (unless the customer request OEM), zero issues & I’ve installed a lot of them. Britpart is the company selling it, but honestly I’m 99% sure Britpart doesn’t actually make it like a lot of products with their name on it.

I live in South East TX where it gets nice & hot during the summer, I own 3 very well kept D2's and all of them run the Britpart Thermostat. I initially bought one for a customer on a budget (I used the LR Grey 180F up until then), It worked great & after that I started using them instead of the LR unit unless I was told to use OEM parts. I haven't had one come back with an issue and like I said I've installed a lot of them.

My advice on ANY Thermostat you buy = toss it into a bowl of boiling water and using an infrared Thermometer monitor the temp when it opens.

If I didn't trust that Thermostat it wouldn't be in a single one of my LR's!

I've always bought the Britpart 180F thermostat from Lucky8. It's always come in a Britpart box with a Britpart P/N: Sticker and some boxes even had a Defender on the box. Well I ordered one before Christmas and it arrived today. It was not in a box (just rolled up in bubble wrap). It does NOT look like the 20+ Britpart thermostats I've installed in the past 2 years. In fact it's identical to a 12.00 Ebay cheapo I currently have in the 02 D2 Westminster. My ebay cheapo is stamped 82C and it does not open at 180F (I suspect it opens at the OEM temp of 195F aka mis-marked el cheapo thermostat). The normal Britpart unit was always stamped 78C on the thermostat itself. I also noticed the unit I was shipped had the mount a Freelander uses (D2 thermostats don't mount to anything). The normal Britpart thermostat I've used in the past 2 years does not have that.

I've messaged Steve with Lucky8 about this issue.

This could explain why some people that bought the Britpart units were having issues as it's like what I experienced years ago with my Hummer H3's and mis-marked thermostats that were supposed to be 180F but in reality they were 190-195F units.
