Quest Off-Road in Corning NY?
Has anyone had any experience with these guys, first-hand or otherwise? They come up on every Craiglist search for Discos in the metro area. They're a good 4 hour drive from the city but seem dedicated to Land Rovers in a big way. https://newyork.craigslist.org/jsy/c...789274595.html

Count me in on this. I've seen a couple really bitter reviews online, but can't rely on those.
On another front, where do you guys get service?
I'm in Jersey City, and know of the usual shops - still looking for that shade tree mechanic
for small stuff. thanks.

I can clean my MAF, but not get underneath.
Still, just finding a good shop or mechanic for the future's always good. esp a place like the Corning one.

I also have read the 3 or 4 bad reviews , although it seemed as if they had higher expectations for the work they requested. I have spoken with the shop owner and he came across as an honest guy, spent a good 20 minutes with me going over what my options were. I had my nephews shop working on the truck figured Id give him the work easy peasy so I thought .... duht duht duht , took it in last July to have him upgrade the exhaust change, the speed sensors , upgrade the brakes, give it a tune up.
A 3 day job turned into weeks then months. After the tune up he tells me he ran a compression test , which discovered the slip sleeve and a cracked block, which boggles my mind the thing never over heated on me, I drove it from Brooklyn to CT no problem now all of a sudden that happens. Have him get a used engine that ultimately had the same problem , my nephew is not a LR specialist so I really cant fault him and he doesn't want to take on the challenge any longer.
I dont want to spend 12k -15k which is what JE Robinson literally quoted me for an engine . Im now considering swapping a d1 engine in.

So I decided to look for another shop after reading some of the reviews and BBB reports on the shop in Corning. I saw mention of a shop called British Auto Works out of the Bronx, gave them a call and was quoted much lower than the Corning shop.
Visited the shop and it was like a Land Rover Oasis in the Bronx, these guys know their **** and have some really nice builds.
I had them do a rebuild & swap , that went great , finished on time and at the agreed price. Had a few other things that I went back to them for and they did the work while I waited. They have a small army of LR specialists that work 2 at a time on a vehicle. Needless to say if you live in NYC this is the place to take your LR .

I looked a bit deeper into the Corning shop and didnt like what I was reading especially on the BBB site.
I located a shop in the Bronx British Auto Works, they were cheaper than anyone else , did an incredible job with
the swap. Ive been back for some smaller things and I highly recommend them.Im in Williamsburg part of Brooklyn , I dont really have anywhere to do any major repairs let alone find street parking.

Thanks ,I ended up finding a shop in the Bronx , British Auto Works.
They brought it back from the dead we swapped in a rebuilt engine for less
than anyone else quoted me in the tristate with a warranty on the work.
The place is like a land rover heaven that you wouldn't imagine existing in NYC.
