Default Question on 03 Key

My wife shut her disco key in the rear door and it snapped. Got caught underneath I guess, heavy door also took out three other keys. Is it possible to just replace the key part, since the remote is fine. It was actually a fairly new key, less than a year. It looks like the key part will pull out, but not sure where to find a blank one. Any ideas??
Thanks

Why do you boys always blame the wife?

From now on I'm inserting "I say it was my wife but it was really me" in place of "my wife" on every post

So what part broke? Did the key come out of the fob?
The dealer can cut you a new key. Or e-bay or www.atlanticbritish.com

Well I can tell you that the actual key part will come out of the fob part because my wife (sorry AnnalieseMae, but it's the truth), somehow managed to make mine seperate today when she was taking the Disco for a drive. All I had to do was pop the key back into the fob and it seems to be fine now.

Same thing happened to me. Wife laid keys down and then I came along and slammed the rear door shut snapping the key off the remote, which was not damaged. Must be some way to replacejust the key.

Thanks guys, the key was cut in half and the remote survived. I was searching on Atlantic British website and could not even find keys. I think I may just get a regular key cut and just use the remote as is.

You can get another key section, have it cut and install it into your old key fob.

It looks like a section on the bottom of the fob where the metal key joins it is removeable. This must be there for accessso you can remove/replace it. Will run by the dealer to ask questions tomorrow. I bet an entire new key/remote is $300 at least.

I got a replacement key for an oldcompany car (Malibu) this Summer and the key alone (has a chip in it to allow starting) was $100 bucks!!!Don't you just love technology?
