Will they let you find some place that does have a 4wd dyno? It's definitely NOT good for any of the vehicle to just rev in place.

Im going to call a few other testing places and see what they say.

The guy that tested it last time didn't really seem to care either, supposed to be 2500rpm as per their website, but it sounded like he had her wide open!

Oh well, off to battle rust on my D1 now...

They rev the cars high to get the cats as hot as possible before they sniff it. an old trick was to pull a plug wire off your chevy v8 to get the cat super hot so its efficiency is maximized before you sniff it =]. Other than that, It wont hurt your car.

In WA they've done away with the sniff/dyno test for all OBDII(96 and newer) compliant vehicles. The emission test consists of plugging into the OBDII port and checking that all the readiness monitors have been successfully run, if they haven't, you don't pass, if the MIL is on, you don't pass. If there is no MIL and all the monitors have been completed it's a pass. (They still have the sniffer/dyno at the inspection stations but they only use them on older vehicles) they never had a 4 wheel dyno at any of the stations that I went to so it was a idle and cruise(2500 RPM) sniff test.
