Question about timing chain: Genuine vs Aftermarket
I'm replacing my camshaft with a Crower 53229, and am replacing several parts while I'm in there.
I purchased a Genuine timing kit from a retailer in Utah (2x the price of the aftermarket kit), but am having a few doubts about it.
The box on the timing chain says made in USA, but the chain says "Morse" and "Made In Mexico"
When I look at Atlantic British's website, they only have aftermarket, but you can see it says "Morse" on the chain in the photo.
My question is, is this the only supplier of the chain, or did they send me an aftermarket chain in a genuine box?
My only concern for the latter is that I bought a genuine power steering pump from the same company a few years ago (for 3x the price) and received some cheap re-manufactured aftermarket unit.
Also the box looks like it was opened and resealed.
The chain I received. Hard to tell but says "Morse" and "Made In Mexico":
