Question on Cat Converters and Mufflers on Disco II
My truck was has been making a rattling noise for a while now and apparently it turned out to be a bad muffler. So i got it replaced today at a close by muffler shop along with the 2 cat converters and added a new tail pipe.. However, after replacing them, the thought came to mind: Does it matter what cat converter and muffler goes on the Land Rover? The ones put in were MagnaFlow converters and a FlowMaster muffler..Is that okay for this truck and does it effect the performance? I really didnt notice any difference in the driving, other than the rattling noise gone away.
I have the Magnaflow Catback exhaust muffler on mine. To my knowledge any muffler should work on the Discovery. The resonator is not necessary and only deadens engine sound further. I have heard other folks on the forum put on the Magnaflow converters with no problems. Others can correct me, but I think the back pressure from the engine is set at the headers. I think you should be fine. How do you like the sound of the Magnaflow? I think its one of the most affordable performance exhausts out there.
Thanks for the responses. I honestly dont hear a difference though. I dont know if its just me, but all i hear is the sound of the engine. I was expecting a better sounding exhaust system but it sound the same. I know they are MagaFlows because i saw him install them and the Flowmaster muffler
