I read a few posts on here about the issues with the 03 discovery.....I also understand the 03 does not have the nipple on the tranny for the locking center diff. But I really love the new style headlamps on the 03 discovery...I think it makes the vehicle look a lot better...what I wanted to know are there also a lot of differences in the interior between the 03 and previous (00-02) discovery models?
Can the earlier models be upgraded to the newer style headlamps? And what year Discover has the fewest issues compared to the 03 model Or do they all have front drive shaft, oil pump and head gasket issues?

As far as I know, headlamps, almost guaranteed SAI, 4.6 vs 4.0 (just different rods and crank, rest is the same), no CDL "bolt" (half 2002 models don't have it either), bumper, speedometer. Aside from that everything else is the same.

If you want CDL and the upgraded headlamps get a 2004. It has cdl stock (including the shifter not just the "bolt"!) and the upgraded lamps. I personally like the earlier lamps as they're more robust and MUCH cheaper to replace if broken.
