Question re: CDL & SLABS on pre-2003 D2
Thanks to all of the useful information on the forum, I was able to install a 2004 center differential lock shifter on my 2001 Discovery 2 and all is working well. I have questions about the need to cut the black & blue wire running to pin 9 of the middle connector block on the SLABS ECU. I understand that cutting this wire will prevent the SLABS ECU from knowing the CDL is engaged which, pre-2003, means inhibiting the ABS and Traction Control. Cutting the wire leaves ABS and TC enabled with the CDL engaged like on a 2004 with a factory-installed CDL shifter.
Does the status of the CDL only matter at startup? The ABS and TC warning lights only come on if the center differential is locked at startup. Can I just leave the wire connected so that if I engage the diff lock after starting the vehicle I get a locked differential with ABS and TC but if I engage the diff lock before starting I get a locked differential without ABS and TC?
I like the idea of having a choice so I'll add a switch if I am wrong in assuming that I can enable or disable the ABS and TC by choosing when to engage the diff lock.
Thanks in advance for shedding light on this topic.

I believe this is correct. My '01 is setup this way. If I have the CDL locked and turn off the truck then, turn it back on (w/ CDL locked) ABS and TC light will illuminate. I think to warn that the systems are disabled.
