Default Questions for the kings of disco?

What break pads are best to use to avoid the three amigos/swine flu getting on the dash?

Can i pull the abs sensors out from behind the tire to clean them?

Anything i should know before i change the belt?

1999 D 2 116000 miles

Good quality ceramic pads, EBC and other Kevlar pads.
Use lots of sound deadening spray, do a 3 pint DOT 4 full brake change, do not resurface your rotors and leave the speed sensors alone.
When changing your blet consider also replacing the both idler pullies as well as the tensioner pulley.
How many miles on your truck?

1999D2 it has 116,000 miles on it,
I replaced the pads, but not with the ceramics used alot of break quite on back, still make enought noise to trip the 3 amigos, changed all the fluid with dot 3, my abs amigo gives me a code of front left abs sensor and shuttle valve. abs still works when i have 3 amigos on dash.

As you now know you need Dot 4 for the heat that LR's make under braking.
I have used OEM and still get and have got a little noise but Disco I no 3 amigos stuff.

Do your self a big favor today, go buy at least 2 quarts of DOT 4 and bleed your system before you face a $2000 plus brake failure. Never ever use DOT 3 in a Rover, it can take out your seals, the ABS, master cylinder and everything else.
Seriouisly, don't think about it, do this today and hope you have not done any damage yet.

ebc's

beware that they take some time to bed in and work well, but once they do they work great.

Todays abs amigo codes were shuttle valve electric failure????

I know D1s are not as finicky as the D2 but changing to EBC pads got rid of my ABS light. I had the ABS fuse pulled and got a wild hair and decided to put it back in after changing the pads. No ABS light and no problems. I was getting the same left front sensor code you are.

So in the future, be more specific about things like DOT 3 or DOT 3 and $ synthetic, there is a hugh difference and in this case you lucked out.
As for the 3 Amigos, how do you know your shuttle valve has failed, were there also other ABS codes if so specificly what?
Are your brakes squeaking since you replaced them, if you throw a panic stop from 30 MPH on a loose surface, can you feel your ABS pulsation thru the brake pedal?
