Default Quick Question

I had a look in the RAVE manual for this but couldn't find anything.

At the rear axle, to the left of the pumpkin and in front of the axle there is an assembly of two heavy looking rollers. About 5 inches diameter and a tether to something on the axle. Anyone know what this is?

Its just a weight to kill some of the harmonics from the rear diff/driveshaft.

Yeh, figured it'd be something like that, initially thought it might be something to do with towing.

It looks heavy so I thought it might be worth removing if it didn't need it.

Thanks

Yep that's all it is, and you want to keep it in place. Pic 1 is a "pretty" one. And if you just had to have a new one (TGV100000) then I guess across The Pond you might have to go > https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-TVG100000

FYI...What you do want to do is either REPLACE your Rotoflex with a GKN brand or CONVERT the rear drive shaft to a (2) U joint shaft. > https://www.lucky8llc.com/collection...conversion-kit

Pic 2, your Rotoflex has cracks in it.

Yes, I noticed that about the RotoFlex and believe it or not I have a new one sitting in a box in the house. Too chilly in the driveway right now. Got that from over the pond!

I'm shocked to see a GKN Rotoflex in a BRITPART box, but good for you!!! That's the brand you want for sure.

Just a headsup, because working in the cold is zero fun spray the (6) nuts @ the rotoflex with some penetrating oil (PB Blaster, whatever) today.

Also to make your life easier grease the DRIVESHAFT SLIP YOKE. This way when you push the driveshaft forward to remove the rotoflex it will move no worries. Your frozen fingers will thank you!

My Britpart rear driveshaft for the LR3 was GKN with a land rover oval stamped on it
