Default radio/cruise control

The cruise control will not work when my radio is on. 2003 disco SE.
If the radio is turned on, off goes the CC.
The CC will not engage when the radio is on.

Help?

There is a chance the new radio is from a 2002 Disco not 03. They look the same.

I have reed about bad grounds(earth) causing strange electrical problems.
Could this be it?
My local (non dealer) could not find the problem.

I have a 97. My light went out on my clock. I pulled it and changed the bulb, and 3 other bulbs went out. It wasn't the bulbs blowing, just a loose wire in a connector. Check the hot wire for the cruise master switch. Follow it all around. You can get a wiring diagram if you can't follow it with you hands. Be careful not to pull anything else loose while doing it.

Sounds to me like you have a bad connection to the relay somewhere, and it shares the same power as the stereo. When you turn on the stereo, the relay does not have enough power to close. OR the wire might be ok, but the addition of the stereo might not be enough to close the going out relay. If you want to throw parts, replace the relay. At least you would know something that it isn't..

Call Land Rover and make sure all of the recalls have been corrected. Do this first. I know there was something about the connection in the steering wheel for the cruise causing the airbag to deploy. Just call a dealer and have your VIN ready.

I can find any loose wires, but may be my lack of skill.
An emploee of LR speculated the radio may have the short.
I am trying to avoid a LR dealers cost

Fixed.

It was a short in the radio diagnosed at the dealer.
They wanted $400-600 for a radio.
$170 on EBay fixed it.
