Radio frozen (won't respond to buttons)
Hi,
I read all the posts, but saw no solutions. The stock radio in my Discovery II is locked up. I can see the last station it was on, but no buttons do anything, nor is there sound. Can't turn it off etc. After disconnecting it and reconnecting it is off, when I turn it on it displays the station but again no response to buttons. It does not say code etc. When it first had this symptom it was frozen on a Mexican station quite loud and you could not turn it off. Very funny, we pulled the fuse.
I had to beg at my local car radio shop to get them to use the two flat tools to remove it.
Thanks

I am not a radio expert, but it sure sounds like your radio has an internal issue that for the most part is to expensive to repair. Have you considered a used factory radio? http://www.roverlandparts.com/index....TS&Category=73
That's interesting...I've noticed that my radio has a mind of it's own sometimes; I'll be trying to adjust the bass/treble/fade and the radio will frequently ignore my inputs or reverse the direction I was going with the adjustment, weird!
Sounds like your radio is dying. The "Stealership" will charge you your first born.
You can follow Disco Mike's recommendation for a factory recon, or you can go on ebay and keep an eye out for the same model that fits you truck. You can get them cheaper and most sellers will garuantee their product.

sounds like it may be time to upgrade to an after-market radio
for what you would spend to get a new or reconditioned factory radio, you could easily have a new after-market radio installed
