Default Radio ground?

Does anyone know where the radio grounds to? Or the cigarette lighter? Or any of the other electrical elements on the disco? Is it to a specific location?

I'm trying to install an MP3 module on the car and am having the hardest time getting a "good" ground. I installed it under the steering column and currently have the ground clipped to the steel welded around the steering column. The ground isn't bad per se, but there's still a little buzzing that I'm sure is attributed to the grounding.

Is there a specific location on the vehichle that is designed for grounding? Again, where does the radio ground to?

Thanks!

does it need to be separate? how about just tapping into the ground wire at the back of the radio?

The RAVE Cd shows all the ground points. They are all insulated from the body, but not the frame. Wonder why?

If you look behind the passenger or driver footwell side trimpanels, you will find several chassis ground studs that you can simply add another ring terminal to and wire up to your mp3 player

Are these panels on the right or left side of each footwell?

These are the outer footwells. On the left (drivers side) it would be the cover panel at your left foot, down where the hood release is. These panels are plastic, and come out fairly easily. The ground wires are black, and you will see a bunch of black ground wires attached to a stud affixed to the sheet metal (but insulated from it). It seems to me that, at least on my 94 Disco, all the ground wires are solid black in color.

Thanks for the input. Would it be same for a Disco II? I have a 2000 DII.

Should be very similar for Disco II. All cars have grounds. It is not difficult to identify the grounds.

Ok, so I finally removed the side panel to the drivers side footwell. I probably don't know what I'm looking for, but don't know where the grounding points are. I've attached a picture of what I see... can someone shed some light on this for me? Thanks.
