Default Radio volume doesn't work

Radio works and can barely hear the volume. The volume control doesn't work on the radio or the steering wheel. Any suggestions to fix ???

There are a few different radio head units used on the DII; what model year, and which style (in-dash cd, or cassette), base radio, medium (Phillips) or premium (HK). I have an '04 with the base system, and the volume control know is wacky; sometimes turning it has no effect, sometimes it does what you want it (rarely) sometimes it does the opposite of what you want it to do. Fortunately, the volume control on the steering wheel works fine, so it's not really an issue, as that's the one I prefer to use anyway. It does make adjusting bass/treble/fade tricky, though, so I just left them alone once I got them to where I want them most of the time.

if neither the volume on the unit nor the volume on the steering wheel works but you can still hear something, it seems likely that the issue is with the amplifier, or with the preamplifier in the head unit. i would start by checking for issues with the amp -- under the driver's seat i believe.
