Rain gutter cracks - Pics to look at
New-to-me 2000 Disco. Truck came to me missing the plastic rain gutter trims on both sides bc PO took off Safari rack and the plastic pieces cracked.
So before I put the new black plastic parts on...check out these pics. These look ok, or do I need to deal w/ this?
I hosed off the roof and couldn't find any water leaking in, but the car's new to me, haven't been thru a good multi-day rain soaking. (and I live in Oregon)
Front edge up by windshield
All the way down the side
You can see where the safari rack was mounted
Cracks in the seam sealer

Unexpected update. I've got my headliner out for ongoing sunroof repairs and we got a ton of rain recently / last night in Portland. I thought I'd fixed all of my leaks w/ a new windshield, new cowl and resealed sunroofs BUT I found the rain gutter leaking very slightly from that cracked exterior seam sealer along the right side.
Going to try to see if I can just apply some new 3m urethane seam sealer on top in the gutter, or maybe dig it out and replace. This is what I plan on using. 3M™ Urethane Seam Sealer, 08367, Black.
Interestingly I see it's getting the right rear taillight ground wet / corroded and I've been chasing a taillight ground issue.
Some pics for fun.
This is the drip I spied, by the right rear 2nd row seat belt.
Evidence of leakage on the trim (washed off my 303 protectant)
Water in the bins
Biggest leak here, it's not coming from above / alpine window, but instead thru the seam
Here
And evidence this has been going on for awhile.
Right Rear taillight ground slightly corroded. Will clean.

There is a service bulletin from land rover somewhere on the forum about how they didn't properly seal the roof on from the factory or something like that. I thought it was just the front corners where it ends next to the windshield but if you've got leaks you've got leaks. My front corners were leaking so i just put some clear silicone on the outside in the gutter of those spots and it sealed right up. I as well have the rest of those cracks around the rest of the gutter but no leaks back there, guess you got lucky.

Hey, sorry to inform you, these gutters look horrible. I have no idea how LR designed these guys, but all these cracks imply that leakage is possible. I don't have the doc in front of me, but if you search for "headliner water ingress" or something like that, you'll find a PDF that shows what to do for gutter cracks up front.
In your case, you'll have to apply the method to the gutters throughout.
You will need:
1. Strip down al the plastic.
2. Clean the gutters.
3. Use something like epoxy or "liquid steel" to fill the cracks.
If you OCD, you'll need a dremel to smooth things out. It should hold up for a few years. Long term? I am not sure.
