I had the chance to be at the 2006 Rainforest Challenge in Kedah, Malaysia this year. Out of all the vehicles there were a fair number of Defenders including some pretty heavily modified and lots of other trucks/brands (at least one RR) but no Discovery at all.

So.. what I'm thinking is perhaps putting together a team to send next year or the year after and build something from a Discovery I base. Look at sponsorship etc.

One thing that the RFC showed is for off-road competition winch reliability and speed is critical as are deep wading capabilities... what would people think about modifying a big hydraulic winch for high-speed winching? Perhaps run off a secondary hydraulic pump and engine

Anyway, anyone interested?
