Range Rover 4.6 in my 04 Disco?
Hey Yall
I unfortunately had a bad 04 Disco and the oil pump exploded...Engine seized up yada yada yada... You all know the rest of the story. Im looking at putting a 02 Range Rover 4.6 w/ secondary air instead of another 03/04 disco engine. That way i wont have to go through the oil pump headache again. Anyone else do this??? Any suggestions?? By the way, my Disco had 55,000 miles and was 8 months out of warranty. LRNA refused the claim becasue they could not locate the 1st, 2nd and 3rd service records from the previous owner. LOL! I have tried to fight 4 a month, but its getting old and i want my car back. Thanks 4 the help in advance.

Rover had no reason to warranty the engine, even if they could have found the first work orders, the coverage is 4 years or 50,000 miles.
Just so you know, your oil pump failing was not what hit the 03's, the engines were all used up early in the 03 build with none being carried over into the 04's.
That being said, is yours also a SAI engine, if so, yes, it will swap over.
What sort of price have you found on a used complete engine?

I think that as long as it has the same emissions as his had, he should be OK.
By the way, you got a pretty good price on the replacement, who is going to install it and for how much?
Make sure to check and replace any questionable seals, especially the rear main seal and the tranny front seal, along with a new set of Magnacore's and a t/stat.

Thanks. The mechanic installing the engine said i should replace the seals while we have it out. He has his own shop now, but worked for Land Rover previously. Labor at Land Rover is Ungodly expensive.
