Default Rattling cat?

Picked up a rattle, notice it when parked, windows down, give it gas and let off. Ruled out engine rattle. Tightened bolts on Y pipe near engine on the flange, they were loose. Passenger side does not rattle. When I tap passenger side, driver side rattles. Not the heat shield. It's internal.

Is this the cat? My main questions:
1) best repair solution?
2) what is the level of urgency?

Here is a video.

Are you getting catalyst efficiency codes? If not, I might just deal with the rattle.

No codes. I think when my plug wires were bad and my SES light was flashing, I might have been dumping fuel. That's all cleared up now.

I did get an IM ready yellow light on the scanner a few days ago but it did not show up the next time. All was clear.

Looking at Magnacor's. $575-675. They want money. :-)

As long as youre not getting any p0420 codes. Just showed up on mine thinking of the same route as youre planning. Dang, budget to the max now, been repairing the discos lately and now this. Good luck jamie.

I feel better now. Magnacor 93689 run about $450 shipped with some digging online. Just bolt on. At least I know what I'm dealing with now.

I want to do brakes first, that's $200 for drilled rotors and ceramic discs on 4 wheels. Tranny and dif fluid change this weekend.

It adds up! :-)

Just found an after market cat for $100 at Auto Zone. I might consider just unbolting the whole thing and getting a new one welded on. Maybe both. The bolts are in great shape. Should be fairly easy to remove.

Update: Rock Auto has the entire Davico front cat assembly for $350 shipped. Just bolt on. I think that may come out cheaper than buying two cats and welding.

I have the exact same problem right now. Does your disco get a really nasty rattle when hot?

I'm having my cat replaced today and will let you know if the rattling gets repaired.

I went with 2 new Magnaflow 94105 universal cats. All is well with my exhaust again. :-)
