Rear bumper step question
I just found and purchased my first Land Rover, a 2000 DII with 92k on the ticker. A nice vehicle with just the kind of blemishes that one might expect in a 12 year old truck and service records indicate that most major issues have come and gone. One of the little issues that I've noticed is absence of the rear bumper step, and I'm now wondering if that can be easily replaced. I find some mounting holes that appear to have once been home to the step, and assume that it was removed to make way for the trailer hitch assembly, though the hitch supports don't seem to come close to those holes.
Those with lots of experience with such things may be able to suggest how I might figure out if the step was removed to make room for the hitch, or for some other unrelated reason.
I've spent some time with RAVE manual, which provides some lovely pictures but not much by way of dimensions.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks, but finding one isn't my problem. What I need to know is if I can get one to fit along side my trailer hitch. Some kind of diagram or photo of the step layout would be just the ticket, but I'm not sure such a thing exists.
Both my Disco's are SE7's and came fitted with the trailer hitch AND the rear step...which I have since removed on both.
And FYI - the step is fitted on the drivers side of the fuel tank and trailer hitch - no problem fitting with hitch. Sorry no pics on hand.

These are two separate options. Yours may not have come originally equipped with the rear step. If you need a boost to get to your rear ladder, or otherwise want to add another cool option to your Rover, purchase a kit.
I have the rear step and the tow bar (is aussie terms) or trailer hitch on mine.. I just went out to take a photo for you and realised mines in the shop getting a new motor installed... If you still haven't got it sorted by the time I get mine back I'll put a photo or two up for you.
There is a good chance the step rusted out or the gas strut failed and the owner just removed it.
Not a problem, The new step kit has everything you need to install (except tools), its not a difficult task to perform,
and it doesn't interfere with the trailer hitch.

Thanks to all. I think I've found out what I need to know. I was told that that the hitch assembly was non-OEM, so the step may have been removed to make room. Turns out that it's not so, and a new step will fit nicely.
Thanks again,
Steve
